Profile

The practice is led by Charlie Rugeroni who, through his work in conservation and as a head gardener, has developed a passion for plants and natural landscapes that influence much of his work. This, combined with his background in art, means he is able to bring an understanding of what it is to be a practising gardener with an eye for composition and good design.

Charlie’s work embraces large and small projects, town and country, private and commercial gardens and landscapes. He believes that understanding the qualities of a site and maintaining a dialogue with the client, produce good interactive designs. That is why his gardens are as varied as the clients he designs for. From the contemporary to the classic, from coastal to cottage gardens, all embody his clients’ tastes and budget.

His designs make a good handshake between house and garden – always an important consideration. Charlie prides himself in working within the parameters of the brief and will provide sound after-care advice to ensure that clients are well informed and confident to look after their new gardens.

All gardens are living spaces and GBD Garden Design takes special interest in the natural distinctiveness of gardens, working to maintain their bio-diversity and local character within its designs.
